铸造: 再生砂铸造生產中经过处理基本上恢復了使用性能可以回用的旧砂。砂型铸造时﹐每生產1吨铸件就会產生6～15吨用过的旧砂。旧砂的利用基本上有两种方式﹐即旧砂回用和旧砂再生。铸型在浇注以后﹐如果大部分型砂中的黏结剂没有发生不可逆的变化﹐则只要除掉杂质﹐经过吸灰冷却和重新混製就可恢復型砂原有的性能﹐这种处理方式称为旧砂回用﹐一般只有黏土黏结的型砂才能回用。用化学方式硬化的砂型及型芯(如用油砂﹑水玻璃砂和各种树脂砂製成的砂型及型芯)﹐其黏结剂的硬化反应是不可逆的﹐这种情况下的旧砂不能简单地回用﹐需要把砂粒表面已失效的黏结剂膜脱除﹐使其基本上恢復原砂的性能﹐这种处理方式称为旧砂再生。黏土砂型中贴近铸件表面的型砂﹐经高温作用后黏土变成了死黏土﹐不能再恢復黏结能力。这样的黏土砂也须经再生处理才能回用。旧砂再生有湿法﹑乾法和热法 3种方法。湿法再生对於黏结剂膜能溶於水的旧砂比较有效﹐一般用於水玻璃砂。採用这种方法时设备庞大复杂﹐而且再生后的砂子需要乾燥冷却﹐耗能多﹐效率低﹐废水排放量大。乾法再生适用於黏结剂膜比较脆的旧砂﹐设备较简单﹐多用於再生树脂砂和黏土砂。热法再生须将旧砂加热到800℃以上﹐将失效的黏结剂烧掉﹐对於无机黏结剂效果很差﹐较适用於树脂砂。这种方法耗能多﹐设备费用高﹐除壳型砂外一般很少採用。
